The Acorn Dash

There are so many opportunity’s at UW-Stout to get involved with the Menomonie community. One way that I like to get involved is through my organization, Wisconsin Education Association (WEA). WEA is a club on campus that is for future educators. As an early childhood education major, I am a part of this club and love it! We volunteer and participate in lots of different types of activities – all that involve kids in some way, shape, or form. It is a great way to get involved with the community, have fun with kids, and have fun with other education majors!

This past weekend, some members of WEA went to help out at a local elementary school, Oaklawn Elementary. The school was putting on a 5K fundraiser for their school. Our group went and helped out with children’s games, cheered for the runners, and helped pass out food at the end of the race! It was a lot of fun and a great way for us to get involved with the community! I love Stout’s relationship that we have with Menomonie. We are all one big community, and we all work well together to make things happen!
