On the first Tuesday of June each year since 1888, the Ludington Guard Band disperses within the band shell located at Wilson Park nearby downtown Menomonie, WI, and fills the ears of their spectators with marching band and classical style music. Buttery popcorn aroma wafts through the air, and the pie pavilion is filled to the brim with various apple, rhubarb, and blueberry confections à la mode. Occasionally, even cotton candy and hot dog vendors may be found. Celebrating their 125th Anniversary, the Ludington Guard band is one of the oldest performing bands today in Wisconsin, and hosts pie sales during their performances to benefit local charities and causes. This truly Americana event is a wonderful social gathering, where people can come together to bond with their children, dogs, neighbors, and friends to enjoy an exquisite night beneath the stars. The performances last roughly 90 minutes, start at 8PM every Tuesday, and there are ten of them consecutively during the summer. Look forward to one patriotic themed concert, and well as one circus themed performance, both happening in July! For more information, check out their facebook page.
