Spring has hit Menomonie with full force! Mornings are still chilly, but a 30 degree jump in temperature up to 60 degrees by noon makes this alright by me (even though it does complicate picking out an outfit for the day). If you’re anything like me, you’re itching for all kinds of summer outdoorsy goodness…but projects are nearing their deadlines and keeping you inside. Here’s a close-to-campus option that will get you outside without taking up too much of your time.
The Landbank Trail!
The trail was originally constructed in 1905, lost in the 1950’s due to the dam being raised, rebuilt in 1976, deteriorated to the point of being closed again in 1998, and finally reconstructed to what is is today in 2006.
If you have an hour or so between classes, you can easily grab a snack from the Coop and go for a short little hike to relieve some end of the year stress. Its right on the way to North Campus and less than a 5 minute walk from Harvey Hall. Short breaks make you more productive, I promise! Go enjoy the fresh air.
