This past week Stout Adventures hosted their 12th annual climbing competition! Anyone and everyone of all skill levels was welcome. Over 90 people signed up to climb, win prizes, and hang out at the wall for a day. Alex Johnson, five-time national climbing champion and two-time World Cup medalist, (check out her blog) showed up to hang out and climb some of the new routes as well. In preparation for the competition, SA shuts down for a week to take all of the current routes down, switch out holds, and wash the wall. New routes are then set by staff, and are first utilized by climbers at the competition.
It was an awesome day filled with great climbs, laughs, and excellent costumes. Afterward, SAORE (Stout Association of Outdoor Recreation) hosted a presentation by Alex Johnson about her rise to fame and success in her climbing career and after that, the Reel Rock Film Tour. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming Reel Paddling Film Festival on Wednesday, April 4th in Applied Arts 210 from 7PM-9PM (its FREE).
